#31: depression and yoga
You’ve probably heard the stats and though the number didn’t stick, you got the gist that there are lot of people who live in the United States who are depressed. You may or may not be one of them. If you’ve practice yoga and battle depression, I recommend Amy Weintraub’s Yoga for Depression.
In this book she writes about her personal experience with depression and how yoga helped. What I like most about this book are her recommendations that are straightforward and easy to follow. She recommends various breath work and physical postures that help with various forms of depression. I’m currently halfway done reading this book and already am incorporating pranayama (breathwork) and asana (postures) into my classes and into my own daily practice.
